A huge crowd of parents and community leaders witnessed the name-changing ceremony of Bottenfield Middle to Minor Middle Thursday, May 12. Leaders in the community including The Rev. Dr. Jonathan McPherson, PTA president Gayle Patterson, and new principal Taki Sarhaan spoke encouraging words to the audience that it takes a team effort with everyone working together for this new beginning to be successful. Mayor Mary Sue Morgan of Graysville was a special guest.
Superintendent Dr. Craig Pouncey charged the audience with spirited remarks, “It is in the hands of this community to determine the school that you want for your children and grandchildren. Your individual homes, the school with its new name and the community at large are a three-legged stool and all three must collaborate and cooperate in order to be be equally yoked in this undertaking. Successful Schools, active churches, and strong homes comprise all successful communities.”
Immediately following the name change ceremony, the audience heard a refreshing spring concert by the bands and choirs of the school as a special present to the community and a thank-you for attending the ceremony.
